The averages

Here's what the average dealer is sitting on.

Equipment dealers, decades in business, customer history spread across old ACT databases, QuickBooks, and spreadsheets. Cleaning that up is our whole job, and the cleanup keeps turning up the same things. The numbers below are the averages.

The Goldmine, averaged

Per dealer, across equipment dealers we've worked with · prepared by Bucket

≈ 7,800

customer records per dealer, cleaned up and merged from ACT, QuickBooks, and spreadsheets

≈ 6,000

machines on file, each one tied back to the customer who owns it

≈ 2,900

machines ten years old or older

≈ 2,600

customers own those old machines

7 in 10

of those customers, at minimum, had not heard from the shop in six months

$6,899

median new machine price across dealer price books

The bottom line

If just 2 of every 100 quiet customers bought this year at the median machine price, that's about $250,000 a year, per dealer. Before the cleanup, nobody could see the list, so nobody was calling it.

These counts run low, not high: on average 4 out of 10 machines in the records had no install date at all, and none of those count toward the old-machine totals above.

What dealers do with it

Not a spreadsheet. The list lives on a map, sorted by who's closest and who's been quiet longest, on every rep's phone. When a rep is in the area, the app shows which quiet customers are nearby, what machine they own, and how old it is. The busiest team on Bucket logs around a thousand customer visits and calls a month against that list.

Get yours

Averages are nice. Your number is better.

Send us five or ten of your customers when you book, even off the top of your head, ideally a few you sold machines to years back. We'll put them on the map next to their machines, with the old ones flagged. If the goldmine's not there, we'll tell you that too.
